March 7th

Today was another extremely mild day. The high got all the way up into the upper 50's. It was actually 64 degrees down in Milwaukee today! The low for tonight will get down to around 23 degrees. So a lot of the snow melt and light rain we got today will freeze. There is a light 8 mph wind coming from the west. This wind is associated with a cold front that is currently pushing through Eau Claire. This front will bring with it a wintry mix of snow and rain. The cold continental polar air mass that is moving in behind this front will bring colder weather for tonight. However this will not last very long, as mild air will be moving back into Wisconsin and bringing more mild temperatures with it. There is actually a chance for the highs to get above 60 next week. This is will be from a warm marine tropical air mass that will be moving into Wisconsin from the southwestern USA. Tomorrow however you should see a high pressure system move into Eau Claire, helping to lower the cloud cover and temperatures compared to today. The winds will to pick up a little tomorrow, getting into the upper teens. I have included a map of the current Doppler, along with a picture of a solar flare that erupt from the sun today. This solar flare will reach the atmosphere around Thursday.
