May 10th - Last Post

Today is the last blog that I have to do for my 341 class. It is an amazing day to end the blog on, the high today will get up to the lower 70's and the low will be around 50 degrees. There is little to no cloud cover right now so it is a really nice day to hang out on the campus mall. There is a southerly wind coming at about 11 mph. The humidity is only at 39% so it is very comfortable out right now. The barometric pressure is at 29.98 inches and it is staying consistent. There is a high pressure system sitting over the border of Illinois and Wisconsin right now which is making the conditions so good. The cold front that brought rain to the east coast is almost past now, bringing only some light rain to Maine. High pressures dominate the middle of the country and low pressure systems are dominating the Rockies. There are some moderately strong dry line storms in Texas. There are some mixed rain/snow showers in Montana right now even.

May 9th

Today is another beautiful day in Eau Claire Wisconsin. The high is going to get up into the mid 60's and the low will dip down into the 40's. It is partly cloudy with mainly cumulus congestus clouds out. The wind is coming from the NWN at about 9 mph. The dew point is at 35 degrees right now and the barometric pressure is at 29.99 and lowering. Tomorrow looks like an even better day, with low cloud cover and a high of 71 with a low of roughly 50. There isn't a whole lot of interesting weather going on right now around the USA. The only thing really going on are some rain showers in Appalachia and the northern East Coast associated with a cold front.

May 8th

Today's high got up to around 60 degrees with a WNW wind in the lower teens. The dew point is at 46 degrees and the barometric pressure is at 29.85 inches and staying even. The humidity will be sitting above 60% for more of the day. Expect to see some light thunderstorms today around 1 pm until around 3 pm. Other than that expect to see cumulo congestus clouds for most of the day. Tomorrow will have very similar cloud cover, but expect it to get up into the high 60's with little chance of rain. There is a high pressure system dominating most of the Rocky Mountains. There are low pressure systems dominating over most of the Great Lakes. There is a cold front associated with this that stretches into Texas, bringing rain to parts of Texas and most of the Northeast.

If you click the link below you can do to a very popular wind speed map. It shows wind speeds by moving lines, and the faster the lines move the fast the wind speed.

May 7th

Today was an amazing day in Eau Claire, the high got up into the high 60's and it was mainly sunny, with some variable cloud cover. Most of the cloud cover was cumulus humulus. The low tonight is going to get down into the mid 40's with the slight cloud cover persisting. There is a west wind coming at 8 mph right now and the humidity is at 51%. The dew point is at 42 degrees and the barometric pressure is at 29.86 inches and it is staying consistent. Tomorrow the high is only going to get into the low 60's with a low of around 40 degrees. There is a chance of 60% chance of some PM showers tomorrow as well. This will not bode well for the areas that are seeing some light flooding. There is a low pressure system sitting over northern Minnesota. This is what will bring the precipitation later tomorrow night. There is a cold front stretching from Cincinnati to central Texas, bringing a lot of scattered showers throughout this area. You can see the map below where the precipitation is happening.

May 4th to 6th

This weekend was a pretty good weekend. In Townsend Wisconsin the conditions were fairly good. There was a high in the high 60's and the low dipped down into the 40's. There was some light rain Saturday morning with overcast clouds. Saturday ended up getting more clear as the day went on. Sunday however was not a very good day for the weekend. The high got up into the low 60's but there was a lot of rain throughout Wisconsin. There is actually some flooding in counties in Wisconsin. Winnebago county by my hometown had a lot of flooding in the city of Oshkosh. There was some strong thunderstorms down in the Baraboo as well. The map below shows all of the alerts out in the United States, note the counties with flood warnings in WI (green).

May 3rd

The high today is going to get up to around 80 degrees. There is a SW wind coming in the high single digits right now. The humidity is at 63% right now and will increase throughout the day. There is full overcast skies right now with variable cloud cover. There are going to be scattered thunderstorms throughout the day today. There was actually some tornadoes in southern Minnesota last night. Tonight will dip down into the low 50's  with a low chance of rain. Most of the rain tonight will taper off around late afternoon. Tomorrow will be in the mid 70's and a slight chance of rain tomorrow night. There are actually strong storms right now in eastern Wisconsin around the Fox Valley. My hometown is in Kaukauna and I was told it's very strong storms there right now. There are two low pressure systems flanking Wisconsin that are associated with a cold front.  I will actually be up in Townsend Wisconsin after tomorrow night for a wedding so there may be a small gap in the blogging.

I will be taking daily weather pictures still so look for those. I also will be taking notes of the weather in Townsend throughout the weekend and will do a post Monday for the weekend.

May 2nd

Today is going to be an amazing day in Eau Claire. The high should break 80 degrees today with light cloud cover. There is a SWS wind coming at about 10 mph right now. There is low cloud cover right now, and there was actually some fog this morning. There was a small thunderstorm last night, that brought about half and inch of rain with it. There is a good chance for another thunderstorm tonight, with a low getting down into the low 60's. The storms will more than likely come into the Eau Claire area around midnight. The United States is dominated by low pressure systems right now, the closest one to us would be the one sitting over Lake Superior. The temperatures will be increasing so much because a warm front bringing warm gulf air will be moving through sometime this afternoon. At the moment there are only some light storms in Michigan and Illinois, and they are very isolated.
